Mariko Abe
Mariko Abe (they/them) is a cartoonist and illustrator. They recently graduated from the Sequential Artists Workshop (SAW) Year-Long Comic Certificate Program. They now make Monopoly bank creating comics instead of vesting stock options. Their comics mainly focus on the intersection of horror and comedy, but they’re always up for a new challenge.
Prior to studying at SAW they ran a webcomic series titled "The Unicorn Hoax", which was unfortunately based on real work horror stories.
They are currently working on their very first graphic novel, "Infernally Employed". It is an adaptation of the Japanese folklore "Momotaro", set in the world of Big Tech, featuring supernatural creatures and anthropomorphic animals. "Infernally Employed" will also be posted online as a webcomic before the end of 2025.
Outside of comics and other drawing pursuits, they are an avid gamer in an endless battle with the ultimate boss - thumb tendonitis.
