By Black Sheep is operated by Kailey Chin, a first-generation Jamaican-American Queer artist. Chin seeks to push the boundaries of a book by making complex emotions an experience, tangible. Grief, nostalgia, and transformation are themes we as a press are working to make comprehensible. Paper is one of the first facilitators of human connection. Shaping and bending this simple object to convey what’s beneath the heart’s surface is how By Black Sheep integrates itself with its audiences. We project humanity at its rawest form, reaching out so others who resonate know it’s okay to do the same.
