PRESS RELEASE

Oakland, CA– Bay Area Queer Zine Fest (BAQZF) is pleased to announce its return for the 8th annual in-person event in addition to a two week-long virtual fest. This year’s hybrid event will host online vendors on the BAQZF website from September 1st through September 14th, culminating with an in-person event on Sunday, September 14th, featuring local and national exhibitors at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center on 388 9th St, Ste 290.

For 2025, BAQZF has chosen “the circus” as the motif for this year’s festivities to represent the joy, revelry, and freedom found in independent publications. BAQZF is delighted to continue its work in fostering a space for LGBTQIA+ creatives from the Bay Area and beyond to celebrate the endless flexibility of zines as a medium to amplify the voices of the marginalized and silenced.

The fest’s Safer Spaces Policy may be viewed on its website, revised June 2024: bayareaqueerzinefest.com. More information including event details and confirmed exhibitors are to be announced soon.

Bay Area Queer Zine Fest is free and open to the public. Masks and social distancing will be enforced throughout the in-person event, and an archive will be available on bayareaqueerzinefest.com after September 14th.
